A listing has confirmed the next Call Of Duty will come to last-gen consoles, but it won’t be locked behind a new Xbox Game Pass tier.
Following the first teaser trailer last week, a bunch of details have gradually emerged about Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Developed by Treyarch, the next instalment in the franchise is set during the Gulf War in the 1990s, with recent trailers featuring replications of former political leaders like Bill Clinton and Margaret Thatcher.
While previous leaks suggested Black Ops 6 would be a cross-generation game, a listing has now confirmed it will be released on PS4 and Xbox One, along with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
As shown on an official Xbox store listing for the shooter, it lists Black Ops 6 as being playable on both Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
This perhaps shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering how half of all PlayStation active users are still playing on a PS4. As such, it might be a few years before we see a Call Of Duty instalment exclusively on current-gen consoles.
Microsoft has also confirmed Black Ops 6, which will be available on Xbox Game Pass day one, will not be locked behind a new tier on the subscription service as previously rumoured.
In a statement to Eurogamer, a Microsoft spokesperson said: ‘Upon launch, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be playable on Xbox and PC for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass for console members.’
This, however, doesn’t rule out the possibility of Microsoft bumping up the price of Xbox Game Pass across the board, which is what it’s reportedly considering.
More details about Black Ops 6 are set to be revealed during a special presentation on June 9 following the Xbox Showcase.
Early rumours, however, have suggested it will be released on October 25 and will feature an open world campaign akin to Far Cry.
