Dark Regards is the brainchild of comic/author/musician Dave Hill and artist Artyom Topilin (Cruel Universe, I Hate This Place). The four-issue sequence is impressed by Hill’s personal experiences forming a fictional Satanic steel band referred to as Witch Taint and the sudden spiral of chaos that ensued.

Here’s Oni Press’ official description of the sequence:

Two a long time in the past, Dave Hill and his first band got down to rock their highschool auditorium in a fury of heavy steel hellfire. They failed miserably. Years later, Dave has made a brand new life for himself as a rising star within the New York comedy scene – a profession the place getting laughed at on stage is your entire level and never only a tragic consequence. But when Dave’s steel ambitions are re-awakened by the über self-serious, “Satanic” style of Norwegian black steel, Dave creates a ridiculously hyperbolic alter ego and a band to match that, collectively, reignite the spark of his forgotten rock ‘n roll fantasy. But when Dave’s internet-fueled rumors of Witch Taint – a steel band “so excessive that it’s essential to take away all sharp objects from the rapid space” when their music is performed – spreads all the best way to Europe, his story will spiral dangerously uncontrolled as Norway’s most excessive black steel butchers come to reap their revenge . . . and put every part and everybody Dave holds pricey within the crosshairs (of their axes, which, fact be informed, do not even have crosshairs, however, hey, it is a metaphor).

“A number of years again, I sat down in my underwear late one night time and determined to let my obsession with Norwegian black steel run wild by emailing a Norwegian black steel document label, telling all of them the bands on their label sucked even though I had by no means listened to any of them, and suggesting they signal my extraordinarily excessive black steel band Witch Taint, which had but to document any music and did not even exist past the band identify I’d simply made up on the spot,” stated Hill in an announcement. “This first e-mail led to months of correspondence with the document label that I by no means supposed for anybody to see. But the Internet being the Internet, finally lots of people noticed it and issues obtained nuts. Now, past my wildest goals, this story has grow to be my first comedian guide sequence Dark Regards, written by me and illustrated by the wonderful Artyom Topilin. If you do not devour each single challenge, you’re principally insane.”

Dark Regards #1 is priced at $4.99 and shall be launched on May 13, 2025.
