Editor Tapped to Lead Washington Post Won’t Take the Job


Robert Winnett, the editor chosen to run The Washington Post, is not going to take up that place, after reviews raised questions on his ties to unethical information gathering practices in Britain.

Mr. Winnett will keep at The Daily Telegraph, the place he’s the deputy editor, in accordance with an electronic mail despatched to employees of the London-based newspaper on Friday.

“I’m happy to report that Rob Winnett has determined to stick with us,” learn an message to Telegraph staff from newspaper’s high editor, Chris Evans. “As you all know, he’s a gifted chap and their loss is our acquire.”

The Washington Post didn’t have an instantaneous remark. Mr. Winnett didn’t instantly reply to a name searching for remark.
