Fallout Season 2 is well underway, and its showrunners have hinted the wait for it to come out won’t be too long.

The series received a second season renewal in April, just one week after the first season debuted, and it sounds like work on the next batch of episodes is moving along at a steady pace, as showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner told The Hollywood Reporter they are keen to get it released quickly.

“We are hitting the ground running this season.

“We are going as fast as we possibly can, and we’ve got a lot of heavy lifting from Season 1 already done,” Wager shared. “We have sets, assets, visual effects that are already done. We are hitting the ground running this season. We’re going to be pedal to the metal to get season two out as fast as humanly possible.”

“There are so many things we wanted to do in Season 1 where we were like, ‘That would be amazing, let’s do that in Season 2,'” Robertson-Dworet added. “It feels like we’re so much farther along, and it’s honestly really exciting, and we’re just really grateful to have the opportunity to bring to the screen all the things that didn’t quite fit in Season 1. We’re excited to get to now do those.”

While they refrained from giving a specific date, fans will be happy to hear a return to the wasteland might be sooner than they initially thought. The first season pulled in 65 million viewers in 16 days to become the second most-watched title on Prime Video and the biggest since Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

The first season follows a young woman named Lucy (Ella Purnell) as she leaves her home in Vault 33 and braves the weirdness of the wasteland to search for her kidnapped father (Kyle MacLachlan). The finale set up a different location for Season 2, and there will also be a new threat: an iconic monster from the games.

Despite all the Easter eggs in the first season, the Prime Video series still has plenty of characters, creatures, quests, and locations to pull from the games. Check out IGN’s wish list for Season 2 here.
