Thank your own personal deity—possibly Surtr—it’s Friday! Old mate was a topical choice because, for 24 hours, the Complete Edition of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a whopping $178 off. You can thank PlayStation’s Days of Play sale for that one, and there’s plenty more where that came from below…
In retro news, I’m celebrating the 22nd birthday of Super Smash Bros. Melee, a GameCube great that really knocked it out of the park with a Home-Run Bat. Having played the control stick out of the OG on N64 with my mates, I remember being blown away by Melee’s increase in free-form movement, responsiveness, character roster, and head nods to other Ninty IPs. I love that this is still lauded in the SSB competitive scene.
I own like eight of these, and they’re awesome. Plug in the dongle, then use Xbox One controllers, PS5 DualSense, DualShock 3, DualShock 4, DualShock 4 Pro, and more!
Hit your fellow humans with large chunks of sharp metal via a surprisingly in depth combat system that rewards skill over spam. Get yourself sworded with this IGN 9/10 for nothing, thank me later for many a hard day’s knight.
An old workhorse that still punches well above its weight. The Logitech G920 Driving Force is a solidly built, great mid-range offering that will wheely elevate your Dirt / Project CARS / Assetto Corsa / Wreckfest / Forza experiences.
Talk about outstanding value for silver. The base game here alone is at least 100 hours of plundering and pillaging. Not quite the best AC ever made. But perfectly decent and well worth many a bon voyage.
