Will GTA 6 carry again story DLC? (Rockstar)

A bit of music believed to be from a cancelled story enlargement from GTA 5 has emerged online, hinting at what might have been.

Despite being the most successful traditional video game ever made, Grand Theft Auto 5, unlike its predecessors, never received any single-player DLC.

It’s long been understood that Rockstar had planned story DLC for GTA 5 before GTA Online became a huge success, with the online mode subsequently swallowing up all of the studio’s attention. Trevor voice actor Steven Ogg even recently confirmed he had acted in scenes for an expansion, where the character was a secret agent of sorts.

This expansion, along with others uncovered by dataminers, was never released, but now more details about the DLC have emerged via an unused music track.

On Sunday, June 23 GTA fan page GTA Focal shared a track on Twitter called Clifford by the duo Sweet Valley. The post claims it was released in 2021 by the group and was from the cancelled story DLC for Trevor.

Sweet Valley is composed of Nathan Williams and his brother Kynan, with the former best known as a member of the band Wavves. Wavves have a few songs in GTA 5, including the track Leave, and Nathan Williams hosts the game’s Vinewood Boulevard radio station.

As clarified by Reddit consumer HeySlickThatsMe, the Clifford monitor was initially posted to Sweet Valley’s Patreon in 2021. In the Patreon submit, which is locked behind a paywall, the duo claimed they wrote some music for a GTA 5 enlargement together with this monitor, which is known as Clifford 2 May 29.

The quantity implies this was the second monitor for the DLC, whereas the title ‘Clifford’ was beforehand found as an inner title associated to Trevor’s story enlargement.

The title has made its manner into GTA 5 in an official capability too, with Clifford being the AI community launched within the Doomsday Heist for GTA Online.

It’s unclear which Clifford got here first nevertheless it’s understood that most of the ideas for the DLC, together with parts of its story, had been repurposed for Doomsday Heist – which implies there’s subsequent to zero likelihood of Rockstar ever going again and ending the deliberate Trevor enlargement.

While the success of GTA Online may proceed to be a roadblock, one hearsay already means that GTA 6 may have single-player DLC. However, since that was the unique plan for GTA 5 as nicely there’s no assure it should really occur.
