The heavily leaked Lego and Horizon mash-up is real but surprisingly it will be on Nintendo Switch, as well as PS5 and PC.
With so many leakers confirming its existence it was obvious that Lego Horizon Adventures was real, but it’s still seems a very peculiar idea.
The gameplay appears to follow the standard Lego licensed game template, but a big part of that is unlocking famous characters, which is not something Horizon Forbidden West and the other games have in abundance.
Not only that but Horizon has a pretty serious storyline and it’s something most younger Lego fans have probably never heard of, and yet now it’s been confirmed as coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC later this year.
There’s no Xbox version but the Switch is, unsurprisingly, the biggest audience for Lego games and so Sony has done the mercenary thing and made sure it’s available on Nintendo’s console – which is most unexpected.
Far more predictable is the game itself, which seems to follow the usual formula of simple co-op action, with Aloy one-shoting many of the smaller robots, which is really not how it works in the original games.
Lego games are always fun though, at least when you have another person to play with and the brick-built Thunderjaw looked great – and perhaps a hint that an actual Lego set will be made of it as well.
The appearance of Hot Dog Guy implies that other generic Lego characters will appear in the game but so far there’s no sign of any other PlayStation game references.
Rather than traditional Lego developer Traveller’s Tales the game is being co-developer by Horizon creators Guerrilla Games and the UK-based Studio Gobo, who co-developer Hogwarts Legacy.

While there’s been some questionable Lego games in the past (did anyone really need Lego The Hobbit?), a new rumour suggests the weirdest one yet could be announced later today.
There’s been rumours of a Lego crossover with Sony’s Horizon games for weeks now but it’s never been clear if it’s a full game or, as would seem more appropriate, a new part of Lego Fortnite.
While some expected an announcement to be made at Sony’s State Of Play, a reliable leaker has now claimed it is a full game and will be announced during the main Summer Game Fest presentation on Friday, June 7.
According to Dealabs writer Billbil-kun, Lego Horizon Adventures will be announced at the presentation and will be available on both PlayStation 5 and PC on the same day. There are no details, however, on a specific release date.
The leaker claims it will be an action adventure game which can be played both solo and in co-op, which sounds like the format of past Lego games. It will also apparently support cross platform co-op online, so you can play with others across PlayStation 5 and PC.
In what’s become a standard for PlayStation games on other platforms, it will apparently require a PSN account to play on PC, meaning it will be inaccessible in 170 territories. The insider also claims it will feature in-app purchases of some kind, although it’s unclear how these will be included.
This report has since been corroborated by Insider Gaming, so it sounds like this is a thing which actually exists.
While there’s some history between Lego and Horizon, with the physical Tallneck set which came out in 2022, the idea of an entire Lego game based on the IP feels odd – especially as it is nowhere near the likes of Star Wars, Batman or Harry Potter in terms of popularity.
Horizon is also a format exclusive and apart from Wii U title Lego City Undercover, all previous Lego games have been multiformat – and even Lego City came to other systems eventually.
That seems impossible given Horizon is owned by Sony but even more than that the property seems ill-suited to the Lego formula, given much of the appeal is unlocking all the different minifigures of various iconic characters.
Assuming this is all true, presumably the robot animals are going to be the primary appeal, perhaps working in a similar manner to the Lego Jurassic World game, but even so it seems a very peculiar idea in almost every way.
There’s a chance Lego Horizon Adventures could feature cameos from other PlayStation characters to bolster its appeal (and recognisable character list) but if that’s the case, why base it on Horizon specifically?
We don’t have long to wait to see if it’s real though, as the main Summer Game Fest presentation kicks off later today at 10pm BST in the UK.
