Seattle TremendousSonics legend says Dennis Rodman, not Michael Jordan, ‘beat’ them in Finals with unusual antics

The Chicago Bulls’ second of two threepeats started with the 1996 NBA Finals – it was Michael Jordan’s first full season after retirement, and he stamped himself as one of the best ever.

Jordan, successful his fourth NBA title, was named the Finals MVP as soon as once more, after averaging 27.3 factors per sport.

The title capped off what was then an NBA-record 72 wins, and it’s nonetheless extensively considered the best NBA staff ever.

But, one member of that Seattle TremendousSonics squad says it wasn’t Jordan who was the most important think about that collection.

Instead, it was Dennis Rodman, says Shawn Kemp.

“Michael wasn’t the rationale, he didn’t beat us,” Kemp advised the “All The Smoke” podcast. “We was on his a–. Dennis Rodman was the one who beat us. We had no reply for his a–.

“Every time that they wanted a second shot or one thing particular or an additional rebound, this motherf—– was flying.”

Rodman dominated the glass within the six-game collection, averaging 14.7 rebounds a sport – he had double-digit rebounds in every contest, recording 20 in Game 2 and 19 in Game 6.

But it wasn’t simply his presence on the rack that the Sonics could not cease – Rodman was intimidating Seattle in a quite peculiar approach, says Kemp, including he would “do s— simply to f— with you.”

“He wore coloured contacts in the course of the championship with some lip s—. He making an attempt to kiss Frank [Brickowski]’s arm,” Kemp stated. “Frank couldn’t take it. The man in him simply couldn’t enable it. Dennis knew what buttons to push. We wanted Frank to rebound.”

Of course, that each one sounds fairly on par for Rodman – however he did not make the Hall of Fame accidentally.
