The neighborhood supervisor for Bend Studio has denied latest rumours about Days Gone 2 and apologises for followers being fed ‘false hope.’

No matter what number of instances it’s made clear that 2019’s Days Gone is not getting a sequel, most hardcore fans secretly hold out hope that it will happen anyway.

Earlier in the week, the game’s creative director John Garvin revealed that the original game had been intended as the first part in a trilogy. That same day he replied to a fan asking about whether there’d be a sequel by saying, ‘never say never.’

However, Garvin no longer works at Bend Sudio and so community manager Kevin McAllister has tried to make it clear that Days Gone 2 is not happening: ‘I apologise to our Days Gone community for continuously getting fed false hope and poor information by people looking for likes. It’s not fair to you all.’

‘We are currently working on a new IP, and when we have actual news to share it will come from our studio,’ added McAllister.

He didn’t mention Garvin by name but his talk of ‘people looking for likes’ seems to be a references to certain websites that reported Garvin’s comments as if he was confirming a new game.

Garvin has not taken the mixed reception to Days Gone well, suggesting that its mediocre critical reception (it has a 71 on Metacritic, which is unusually low for a first party Sony game) was due to ‘woke reviewers’ who ‘couldn’t be bothered’ to play the game.

Co-director Jeff Ross, who is also no longer at Bend Studio, also complained that the game had performed just as well as Ghost Of Tsushima, and yet that was treated as a success and is getting a sequel (it’s assumed, Sony has never actually announced it).

However, Ross pointed out that a recent collage of major first party franchises by Sony omitted Days Gone entirely, even though it prominently features Bloodborne – which has since been ignored even more thoroughly than Days Gone.

Ross implies that the problem is former Sony Worldwide Studios boss Hermen Hulst, who is apparently not a fan of Days Gone. Considering he’s now joint-CEO of the whole of PlayStation that seems to rule out the chances of a sequel for good.

The solely glimmer of hope for Days Gone is that, again in 2022, there was speak of a film adaptation. Nothing has been talked about once more since but when it does ever occur, and is a hit, it might probably encourage a brand new sport.

But contemplating the success of the Uncharted film hasn’t achieved that for a much more distinguished franchise, the possibilities are nonetheless slim.

As for the brand new IP that Bend Studio are engaged on, job listings on the developer appear to make it clear that it’s a dwell service sport. But what precisely it’s and when it will likely be introduced stays a thriller.
