After it was previously outed by leaks, England and Real Madrid player Jude Bellingham has been officially announced as the cover star for EA Sports FC 25.
The next instalment in the football series – the second to not have the FIFA licence – sees Bellingham on the cover doing his signature ‘Belligol’ celebration, after scoring the stoppage time winner for Real Madrid against Barcelona in April.
Bellingham, aged 21, is the youngest global cover star on an EA football title, and also appears on the cover of EA Sports FC Mobile.
On the Ultimate Edition cover of EA Sports FC 25, Bellingham is joined by former and current football stars – namely David Beckham, Gianluigi Buffon, Aitana Bonmati, and Zinedine Zidane.
Speaking about the honour, Bellingham said: ‘I played this game with my brother all the time growing up, and I’ve always thought about how incredible it would be to one day be featured on the cover. There have been so many iconic players on the cover over the years, and I am delighted to be the most recent English player to be bestowed with this honour since 2011.
‘I’m also truly honoured to be featured on the cover of Ultimate Edition with true legends of the game both past and present in Beckham, Bonmati, Buffon, and Zidane.’
After confirming the cover, EA released a trailer for EA Sports FC 25 which shows Bellingham in action. You can check it out below.
Manchester City player Erling Haaland was the cover star of last year’s game, EA Sports FC 24, which still managed to be a sales juggernaut despite the name change.
EA Sports FC 25 will be released on September 27. If you buy the more expensive Ultimate Edition, however, you’ll be able to play the game seven days early, from September 20.
EA Play subscribers will get early access to the game via a 10-hour trial, which has become the norm for the service.
As for the future of FIFA in video games, the football association is rumoured to have signed a deal with Take-Two to make a new series of games, but this is still yet to be confirmed.
